Finite Difference Method for Solving Tidal Flow Problems

The basic tidal equations are non-linear partial differential equations for which closed form solutions are not available except for very simplified ones. Generally, finite difference methods are adopted for solving practical tidal flow problems. There exist many books such as [2] in which the subject-matter has been dealt with extensively. Here only one solution technic adopted for solving one-dimensional tidal flow problems is discussed.
