ABSTRACT

The thermodynamic relationships (Chapter 4) hold for semiconductors, as do Sections 3.7 to 3.7.3 and Eqs 5-21, 5-26, 5-123, and 5-157. These equations show that the ASCs of semiconductors are considerably larger than those of metals (Sections 5.1.3 and 5.3.4); the large ASCs account for their use in power generation and refrigeration.
