ABSTRACT

The very close interrelationships between thermoelectric and other physical properties (Chapter 5) and the equivalence of the Fermi energy and the chemical potential (Section 3.3) are such that the ASC of a material provides a sensitive, inexpensive means for detecting and investigating changes in the solid state. This technique can be applied isothermally or as a function of temperature. The applications given in this chapter illustrate some of these applications.
