ABSTRACT

The present state of the work being done by the author in the field of non-linear dynamic studies of railway vehicles is described in this paper.

A description is given of the method used, which enables studies to be made of a vehicle running on curved track, with irregularities which may be defined as data pertaining to each problem.

As practical applications of the proposed method, examples are given of the results obtained in the study of a freight car fitted with three-piece bogies. An analysis is made of the effect of various vehicle and track parameters on wheel/rail forces, running safety and wheel rolling profile wear.
