ABSTRACT

The mathematical model describing the dynamic behaviour of a motorbike in sharp curves, which is documented in [2] and [3], has been enlarged to include a lumped frame elasticity and a non-rigid rider body.

The description of the tyre behaviour has been refined by inclusion of several moment-generating mechanisms. Measurements have been conducted to quantify the elastic properties of the frame. The behaviour of the extended model is studied in terms. of root-loci, both when running straight ahead and when cornering.
