ABSTRACT

The Yanshan Range in northern China is a Meso-Cenozoic intracontinental or intraplate orogenic belt formed on Precambrian cratonic basement. Its orogenesis differs from geosynclinal folding, marginal subduction and continental collision. Here we mainly discuss the geophysical properties and crustal structures, structural deformation, tectonic evolution, orogenic processes and orogenic mechanism of the Yanshan intracontinental orogenic belt, which are important for continental geodynamics.
