ABSTRACT

Some damages must be accepted during a severe earthquake from an economical viewpoint. Therefore, more sophisticated seismic design is now required than in the past, so as to ensure that the damages would be below a disastrous level. Because of its complexity, the behavior of a truss bridge during large earthquake is not well understood yet. In the present study, a truss bridge under seismic loading is analyzed. The significance of nonlinearities in this class of analysis is also discussed.
