ABSTRACT

The beam-to-column connection, BCC, of moment resisting frame MRF, is analyzed in the paper. The stress-strain state in the connection is caused by the seismic action and service loads. The welding procedure applied leads to a residual stress diagram and to the brittle constituents in the seams. This is the main cause of the damage reported to such connection. An improved beam-to-column connection is presented in the paper.
