ABSTRACT

In general the measurement for any characteristic for a part or an assembly can be converted to an attribute. This is accomplished by choosing specification limits for the characteristic. Then the part or assembly is a "good" or a "defective" according to whether the measurement lies between the limits or outside. This chapter illustrates what can be done in acceptance sampling by measurements when a normal distribution is assumed. It provides a discussion on variables-attributes sampling and some exercise problems related to the concept of acceptance sampling.
