ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the basic performance data, which should be provided to the Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) contractor by the system house. The SPF contractor needs a strong technical support that involves the means for assessment of the product performance, review of its compatibility with adjacent materials, testing during the field fabrication and support during the follow-up programs. To support the SPF contractor, the system house must deliver technical information that covers four areas: Initial characterization of the SPF fabrication process; basic laboratory tests of SPF physical properties; QA tests during the field fabrication of SPF; and equipment best suited for the application. The mechanical properties must be determined during the initial characterization of the foam product for a case of a potential dispute involving both the system house and the SPF contractor. The SPF contractor, together with the manufacturer, must define the acceptable range of variations for operational parameters critical to the SPF field fabrication process.
