ABSTRACT

Faced with some very constraints around the field of excavation with 6m depth in soft soil in Wuhan city and required tight construction date, the decision was taken to provide support by soil nailing wall. Big displacement had been monitored and excessive settlement had taken place in soil nailing wall when excavation proceeded close to final depth. Having realized the risk, we revised the design to improve the stability. During the later process of construction, measure data of soil nailing wall was immediately collected and analyzed. According to the adjusted design, construction was very smoothly and the excessive movement was controlled in soil body and it was very successful to complete the project.
