ABSTRACT

The geophysical methods play an important role in the complex recognition of the seismic and rockburst hazards in the Polish coal mines and copper ore mines. In the paper the application of seismic profiling and seismic transmission methods combined with tomography reconstruction of the velocity field in coal seams is described. In particular, a method for location the stress concentration and stress-relief zone ahead of the mining coal face is demonstrated. The second seismic method for the assessment of seismic hazard in Polish mines is the passive tomography. A few results of calculation of velocity field in coal mines and copper ore mines, using passive tomography, are presented.
