ABSTRACT

In the paper two successful cases are presented (already published) of strain tensor measurements of soil deformation induced by underground mining. The first one is related to the largest mine tremor in Poland (ML = 4.5) occurred in the area of copper ore mining in Lubin. The second one presents the geophysical observations of mining trough development above the longwall in the coal seam (Andaluzja coal mine, Piekary Śl). Next, the authors present the idea and the initial phase of the new project of the long term observations of the subsidence above the longwall face extracting the coal with caving (600 m below the surface) below the highway under construction. Three dimensional strain tensor measurements, levelling, satellite radar interferometry InSAR, geoelectrical resistivity vertical sounding are prepared and started to continue during the longwall advance below the measurement site.
