ABSTRACT

The advantages of the enhanced design process include improved performance and quality of the finished product, faster time to market, optimal use of materials, weight savings, verification of structural integrity before prototyping, and lower production costs, all of which ensure a competitive edge. Customizing of the commercial finite element analysis programs for specific applications and the development of in-house programs are options available to users of computer-aided design. Commercially available computer programs including ABAQUS, MARC, and ADINA, have recently made very significant advances in the development of finite element procedures. Computer costs can be justified by factors such as efficiency and better component reliability and performance. The computer program used in the analysis, using the Mooney-Rivlin model, is ABAQUS. Inside the brake caliper, a disk brake piston is usually sealed with an O-ring of square cross section. The computer program used is ABAQUS, and the rubber elements are made of polychloroprene.
