ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to present the rheological requirements of the major classes of hair products. Emphasis will be placed on the theoretical basis which underlies the observed rheological behavior in each case. The chapter is organized to deal with hair gels, hairsprays, and surfactant-based products, in that order. This of course, does not reflect the order of commercial importance of these product categories, but it provides a framework for logical presentation of the theoretical concepts.
