ABSTRACT

A number of sample roadway profiles are constructed by means of Monte Carlo Simulation. Impact factors of deck slabs according to each sample of a roadway profile are simulated. This research is focused on investigation of statistical characteristics of deck slab’s simulated impact factors due to moving dynamic wheel loads. Reliability evaluation of impact factors of deck slabs specified in design codes is carried out considering effects of truck configuration types and several values of a bump height. Statistical properties of the deck slab’s impact factors can be characterized by normal distribution. Reliability evaluation of codespecified impact factors according to vehicle types and several values of a bump height indicates that AASHTO code has the lowest reliability among four codes as AASHTO, OHBDC, JSHB and DIN1072. It can also be seen that axle configuration type of a vehicle can affect impact factors of deck slabs.
