ABSTRACT

John Alden Financial Corporation is an insurance holding company that, through its subsidiaries, is principally engaged in providing group life and health insurance and managed care services. John Alden is one of the largest providers of group insurance in the market. The company also markets annuities, life insurance to individuals, credit life and health insurance, extended service contracts, and other health-related risk management services and products. John Alden Financial Corporation employs 1700 persons at its headquarters in Miami, Florida, and employs an additional 2000 persons in locations throughout the United States. John Alden's diversity efforts preceded the introduction of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As a company committed to improving the quality of life in its community and utilizing the diverse skills available, John Alden actively recruits people with disabilities. An ADA training program for managers was prepared to provide guidance in interviewing, communicating with, and supervising persons with disabilities.
