ABSTRACT

This article describes important aspects took into account in the design of the Miel I dam, which makes part of the Hydroelectric Project of the river La Miel. The dam, was designed with a height of 188 m and with a zoned section constituted by five different dosages of cement, being constituted in its type, in the higher dam in the world.

In this article the followed methodology and results obtained in the analysis of the thermal behaviour of the dam are presented, together with the special tests carried out to determine the thermal properties and the strain capacity of each one of the RCC mixes foreseen in the vertical zonification of the dam.
