Benefits of the full-scale trial performed for Beni Haroun dam (Algeria)

Prior to the beginning of the concrete placement at Beni Haroun dam, the biggest RCC dam in volume at the time of its construction, a large full-scale trial was performed. The aim of this paper is to make a description of the trial, to give a detailed account of the main objectives sought and, finally, to point out the most important conclusions drawn from the trial that could be applied for the ulterior dam construction.
