ABSTRACT

A network is a sequence of interrelated tasks to be undertaken in a particular sequence. Performance of the set of interrelated tasks in a specified sequence will lead to the completion of the project. The Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) sometimes referred to as the Critical Path Method. It is used to: view the required sequencing of the tasks of the project, determine the earliest completion time for the project and identify the critical tasks which must be completed on schedule in order not to delay the project beyond its earliest completion time. The application of PERT to a large project involves many decisions. The decisions for PERT is the appropriate starting times for each task in the project. PERT with deterministic task completion times is a complex deterministic decision technique.
