ABSTRACT

“Package plant” is a term used to describe an integrated treatment system fabricated in a modular, skid-mounted configuration. Package plants should be designed for application at a specific site with all relevant site-specific design criteria considered in the course of system design. Water treatment technology has advanced to the point that technologies exist to treat virtually any water source. A significant element of treatment system design is selection, integration and application of appropriate treatment technologies to meet the treatment needs of a specific application site. Capital cost is always a concern in applying water treatment technology. When the user or system specifier wishes to cut capital costs, the first strâtegy is often to simply downsize treatment system hardware. Conventional municipal water treatment plants located in the US require employment of full-time certified operators thoroughly trained to run the treatment facility.
