ABSTRACT

Effective communication is an essential element of a project. All project managers bring some measure of planning, leading, organizing, and controlling to a project. The project manager must extract clear objectives from the sponsor. The project team must understand where the project is headed, and anticipate and deal with problems. The component of a project budget required for safety and environmental protection is steadily increasing. Communication is an important element of motivation; motivation is an important element of leading; leading is an important element of the project manager's work. Weekly meetings between the project teams to discuss concerns can be very constructive. The participants must have the kind of relationship that lets them expose worries, hunches, and gut feelings without having to justify them. A constructive, mutually supportive relationship between the project teams will help eliminate friction and wasted effort.
