ABSTRACT

Liquid samples may be sent to a laboratory for examination if the plant is close enough so the sample may be drawn, sent to the laboratory, and analyzed the same day. The analyst must be satisfied that the sample has not been exposed to elevated temperatures. If frozen samples arrive at the laboratory in a thawed condition, they shall not be analyzed. The chemist-in-charge is to contact the supervisor and request another sample. If the frozen sample arrives at the laboratory too late for analysis, it may be stored in a freezer until analysis is to be started. Frozen samples that are to be analyzed the next day may be held in a refrigerator until the next day. Dried egg samples should be analyzed upon arrival. They may be held overnight at 21° C., or less. If the sample is not immediately analyzed, it is to be held in a cooler until it can be analyzed.
