ABSTRACT
The availability of oscillators that can produce high-quality single-frequency signals is a technology essential to many modern electronic instruments and applications. The same statement can be made about optical instruments and applications. As time goes on, an ever-larger percentage of devices that incorporate optics depend on the availability of optical oscillators (i.e., lasers) for their operation.
