ABSTRACT

This chapter concerns the application of lightwave technology to microwave and millimeter-wave devices, circuits, and systems. The interface between photonics and microwaves has been intriguing researchers for some time because of the potential that this blended technology has for important new applications. With regard to optical/microwave interactions, much of the work falls into two general categories: (1) the distribution of analog microwave signals via high-speed optic links, and (2) the optical control of microwave devices and circuits.
