ABSTRACT

Over the last 10 years, standards and associated test methods have been developed for hydraulically bound mixtures (HBM) under Working Group 4 of the CEN Technical committee TC227. Altogether standards covering some nine types of mixtures, one constituent standard and 19 test methods standards are being developed. They are all at various stages of development but the intention is that they will be ready for public use in 2003. This paper describes, mainly lists, the standards involved. Some of the mixture and test method standards will be new to the reader, particularly HBM that rely on fly ash (pfa) and granulated blast furnace slag (GBS). In these cases and in the cases of unfamiliar test methods; vibrocompression compaction, workability period, alpha coefficient for GBS, volume stability tests for example; more detail is given. At the very least, the paper increases awareness of the HBM and related standards that will be in existence in 2003.
