ABSTRACT

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management strategy that is designed to continuously improve performance in all areas of responsibility at every level in an organization. In a highly competitive environment, commitment to quality is not an option but an absolute necessity. The 1980s witnessed the revival of quality control which was driven by global competition. Aesthetic, which is often considered as a measure for quality, is secondary importance for industrial textiles such as paper machine clothing. In the manufacture of paper machine clothing, technology indicates factors such as fabric and seam strength and other properties that are affected by the state of technology in the industry. Psychological effect generally means aesthetic requirements of customers which have secondary significance in paper machine clothing. Commitment, awareness, planning, accountability and recognition are the main managing elements in a TQM environment. The commitment from the top management of an organization is crucial for the successful implementation of any International Standards Organization quality system.
