ABSTRACT

Cost can be discussed in terms of French francs or dollars per cubic meter or per thousand gallons of treated water, or in grams per hour or pounds per day of ozone produced. Ozone generator specific energy consumption changes at different production levels. Ozone production requirements change throughout the year. The amount of ozone required can be accurately defined by means of treatability studies. There is no general rule for a standby ozone supply and its advisable capacity. In cases where air is used for producing ozone, the preparation system is often slightly oversized compared with the flow rate of desiccated air needed to generate the requisite amount of ozone. The residual ozone in the offgases is destroyed by thermal process with heat recovery. The servo control of ozone dosing is regulated on the influent flow rate and a reference dose rate with modulated feedback control based on maintaining a dissolved residual ozone concentration of 0.4 mg/L.
