ABSTRACT
Optical length measurement techniques play an important role in metrology. Optical systems such as microscopes, telescopes, and interferometers have all been used for length measurement depending on the requirements of accuracy, range, etc. Interferometry, an accurate length measurement technique, was generally confined to the standards laboratory, but the use of the laser has brought it now to the shop floor.
