ABSTRACT
The article attempts to identify the fundamental tasks currently united under the term Bridge Management and the key developments of the transportation infrastructure in the United States which have marked the bridge management process over the recent decades. The New York City bridge management, past and current, is reviewed in some detail for the purpose of discerning trends and conclusions on the subject.
