ABSTRACT

For the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR), a South African 302 MWthermal High Temperature Reactor, the formation of the core is described and simulated with PFC3D . It can be shown that the formation of a dynamic center column is possible. In additional calculations, the flow through the core is simulated. The simulations show the same strongly parallel flow of spheres observed in past experiments. The residence times were validated by comparison with an experiment.
