ABSTRACT
A 48-year-old man has been admitted on to the ward. He has a history of offending behaviour since adolescence and has been charged in the past for burglary as well as grievous bodily harm for which he served 2 years in prison. He has a history of attendance at a child psychiatric service when he was 14 years old due to bad behaviour at school – bullying other children and destroying property. He has suffered from depression with associated polysubstance misuse over the past 20 years and has now been admitted after taking an overdose of some analgesic tablets.
