ABSTRACT
When Albert Szent-Gyögyi submitted his discovery of Vitamin C to Nature he named it 'ignose' as it was a sugar of unknown composition. However this term was rejected on the grounds of flippancy and so Szent-Gyögyi sent back his paper with the compound retitled 'godnose'.
