ABSTRACT

In CBI mill copper flotation circuit, Aerophine (3418A-Cytec) promoter is used as a collector. Because of the high cost of the collector, it was decided to test alternative reagent schemes. Thus, Aerophine was mixed with various xanthates and laboratory flotation tests were carried out to determine Cu rougher metallurgy with these mixtures. Promising results were obtained with Aerophine+PEX (Potassium Ethyl Xanthate) mixtures and plant trial was decided with this mixture. In this paper, trial results are presented and the impact of the reagent scheme changes on metallurgy are compared using statistical methods.
