Figure 12.1 illustrates the arrangement of a typical millimetre-wave heterodyne receiver system. In this chapter we shall examine the two main parts of such a system which have not already been considered in other chapters: the control loop which determines the local oscillator (LO) frequency, and the diplexer which simultaneously couples lo and signal power into the mixer.
