ABSTRACT
Tissue samples including bone, soft tissue, blood, serum, feces or urine, are completely ashed in hot concentrated nitric acid (1). The resulting solution is analyzed for trace metals by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). The entire sample may be analyzed to avoid problems inherent in attempting to obtain representative tissue aliquots.
