ABSTRACT

Efficient transportation of natural gas either “upstream” or “downstream” is an important step in the natural gas industry that affects all the consumers. Downstream is the portion wherein the processed natural gas is transported to the ultimate destinations. Natural gas, liquefied natural gas, substitute natural gas, and liquefied petroleum gas are considered to be integral parts of the gas transport industry. Natural gas is of crucial importance to Southeast Asia for both fuel and feedstock uses. Methane, ethane, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide are some of the major components of any natural gas stream, even though the composition of the constituents may be different for various gas fields. The most common unwanted compounds that are part of natural gas are water, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, helium, and other heavier hydrocarbons. The storage of extracted gas is an important step in the better use of natural gas.
