ABSTRACT
The experimental study of mechanical properties of granites proved remarkable anisotropy. The anisotropy of apparently isotropic rocks is explained by the preferred orientation of rock fabric elements. The magnitude of mechanical anisotropy fairly correlates with the symmetry and magnitude of rock fabric.
