ABSTRACT

Production processes or process routes- a sequence of production operations through which raw materials are effectively converted into the planned products- must be determined after aggregate production planning and completion of product design. This decision-making is called process planning. It depends upon the kinds and quantities of products to be finished, kinds of raw materials and parts, production facilities and technology on hand, and so on. Work flow is a set and sequence of operations which constitute the conversion process of raw material into the product. With automated manufacturing the roles of the operative workers are becoming less important except for the activities of raw-material supply, tool and jig setting and replacing, productive maintenance, product inspection and so on. A recent trend in thinking that the value of labour has been neglected in our society has resulted in significant changes in the role of manual work.
