ABSTRACT
Sediments are complex deposits of inorganic particles, organic matter, and adsorbed and dissolved constituents. With increased interest in monitoring and measurement of aquatic effects in the receiving environment due to industrial and domestic activities, it is imperative to understand the nature and character of the sediment before embarking on detailed studies.
