ABSTRACT

The most dominant element, which has an influence on the elastic wave velocity changes, is besides rock lithology its rock failure. It is also interesting to watch the relations between the longitudinal wave velocity changes and the stress field in the slope deformation. The contribution of the seismic methods can be divided into two large groups. One group is the determination of the separate physical (geological) boundary. The other one is a chance of the stress and mechanical condition studies of the slope deformations and of their surroundings. The seismic methods can indicate when and where the rock massive tension stress starts. New methods of the shallow refraction seismic processing or using seismic tomography give us an ideas about the rock massive failure of the slope deformation and of the stress distribution in the landslide bodies and in their surroundings.
