ABSTRACT

Careful evaluation of each and every program output file or printout is essential in the pharmacokinetic analysis of the data. The program output can provide confirmation or support for the chosen weighting scheme. The weighted residual plots can provide considerable insight into the model selection and the chosen weighting scheme. Ideally, there should be a random appearance to these plots. With a single data set the weighted residual plots can often be quite definitive. Each nonlinear regression program will provide a variety of useful tabular data. Different programs will present the final parameter values and their variability in somewhat different formats. The table of observed and calculated data produced by the program should be carefully checked, especially after the first run with a new data set. Many programs will provide values for the coefficient of determination and the correlation coefficient.
