ABSTRACT
Much of the sediment in nature is transported by running water. To follow the process of sediment transportation therefore, one must have a clear idea of the dynamics of flowing water. The mechanism of sediment transportation by wind is also comparable in many respects to that of running water. The basic principles of hydraulics are discussed in this section to provide an insight into the mechanism of sediment transportation under aqueous and eolian conditions.
