ABSTRACT
The title of the chapter refers to operations of three standard types which, for various constructive purposes, we may carry out on the rows of a matrix. The operations in question are :
Interchange of two rows;
Multiplication of a row by a nonzero scalar;
Addition to one row of a scalar multiple of another row.
