ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in this book. The book provides the theoretical justification for the real action that must happen in community. Under the prevailing paradigms, people who have some difference are usually subject to being perceived and treated in a devalued way. This devaluation leads to direct or indirect separation from community. Interdependence offers an alternative that balances the equation, and keeps people connected to community. It provides a backdrop of relationships in an effort to retain a sense of community. Harmony is a goal of interdependence. Knowing and accepting the basics of paradigms is the foundation for making interdependence happen. The notion of harmony is an interesting one. The true university atmosphere is intended to be a place where people can think, differ, compare, and dialogue about concepts and themes of community interest.
