ABSTRACT

Many statistical models are concerned with data where a response (dependent) variable has a dependence on one or more control (independent) variables. The response variable may have only one aspect as is the case for data where a univariate model is appropriate or the response variable may have several aspects making the use of a multivariate model necessary. The data may be generated by an experiment that is repeated several times the same way necessitating the use of several models. This chapter will consider the case of a single univariate model. Chapter VII will consider r univariate models and the multivariate model will be considered in Chapter IX.
