ABSTRACT

The Agaraceae include about 20 genera native to the tropics and subtropics in general. The Agavaceae differ from the related lily and amaryllid families in having strongly fibrous leaves, usually clustered in a rosette on a short perennial trunk. In some, the trunk is massive and tall, e.g., the joshua-tree and other Yucca species and in the dragon-tree and other Dracaena species.
