ABSTRACT

Cotton, peanut, and soybean are three of the most widely planted agronomic broadleaf crops in the United States. Cotton is grown primarily in the southern region of the country from Virginia and Tennessee in the north, south to Florida, and west to Arizona and California. Cotton is grown on approximately 5.7 million hectares annually in the United States (Supka et al., 1992). The major cotton production areas are in the Southeast, the Midsouth, the Southwest, and Arizona and California. Upland cotton is grown in the southeastern and Midsouth regions, whereas Pima cotton and upland cotton are grown in the Far West.
