ABSTRACT

One of the fundamental problems of the basement rocks of Egypt is the study of granites associated with these rocks given the name younger granite it is the most dominant rock unit forming conspicuous high features found as large plutons and stocks in Eastern Desert. In general, the pink granites proved to be the most significant uranium host rocks. Fieldradiometric survey carried out in Southeastern Desert indicated that some granite exposures are highly radioactive rocks, two of these granite exposures located in Magal Gebriel and Am Ara areas, show similarity in their significant features. This chapter deals with the geological-structural and radiometrick studies on the rocks of these two rocks exposures which are located to the southeast of Aswan town by 170 km and 230 km respectively. The radioactive rocks in Magal Gebriel and Um Ara areas are the fine to medium grained alkali pink granites which contain secondary uranium mineralizations clearly distinct in the hand specimen as yellowish spots.
