ABSTRACT
When using abrasive water jets it is impossible to quantify the influence of each parameter for all materials that can be cut. Therefore the idea of the information system is to give the dependencies for one material only in detail (reference material) for abrasive water jets.
For other materials belonging to very different groups of materials the relation to the behaviour of the reference material regarding the cutting performance can be evaluated.
The quantification of the influences of different parameters on the reachable cutting performance as well as the setting up of the relation to reference material can be realised by determining the kerfing depth or the obtainable cutting performance.
In addition investigations have been carried out regarding an increase of the cutting efficiency related to the consumption of energy, water and abrasives. Cutting parameters can be optimised to reach a better exploitation of these goods of consumption.
